About the Owner

Hi Adventure Seekers,

I am Perdi Hasan, but you can call me Perdy. I am the owner of Rinjani Wonders, a trekking operator for Mount Rinjani. I was born in Senaru and grew up at the foot of this mountain. I have been working as a trekking guide for 10 years. Over the years, I have experienced both the joys and challenges of hiking this mountain. However, these experiences have only strengthened my passion and built my character as someone who earns a living from the generosity of the mountain and the beauty of Lombok’s nature.

Being a trekking guide means being a lifelong learner. I have to master a range of skills and knowledge, from understanding the true nature of the mountain and the legends it holds to strengthening my communication skills. I also have to enhance my ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. With these skills, I gained the confidence to take a my trekking company, Rinjani Wonders, six years ago in 2014.

Running a trekking company requires dedication, commitment, and full investment. Through this company, I have had the opportunity to help improve the living standards of my community in Sembalun and Senaru. I have been able to create jobs for nearly fifty people as guides and porters; all of them are locals. I provide them with regular training to ensure they are well-prepared to serve our clients to the best of their abilities.

With this company, I have learnt the true meaning of giving and nurturing. Some of the profits are spent on charity and community empowerment. I share resources with my neighbours and those in need. I have also become more aware of the importance of preserving nature. The 2018 Lombok earthquake taught me and many others a valuable lesson about respecting the environment. Nature can fight back if you mistreat it, but it will protect you if you become its friend.
